General Rules for Boys and Girls
- Ages for showing are 6 to 19 years of age as of January 1st of the fair year.
- Youth must pay an entry fee of $2.00 for the first four items and $.25 (quarter) thereafter. This will entitle entrance at the gate for the entire length of the fair.
- Boys and Girls work is judged on the Danish System.
- All entries must be in by 8:00pm entry day of the fair.
- Livestock may be entered in open class, with the exception of eggs. A separate entry for “A Dozen Eggs” is required for open class.
- Exhibits should be according to project requirements.
- Every entry tag is to have an age written in the upper right hand corner. This will allow each entry to be judged according to age.
- Foods must be canned in standard canning jars. Jars must be clean, have new ring and seal, and must not be larger than one quart in size.
- Baked goods should have a 3”x 5” recipe card along with the entry to be displayed. They must also be enclosed in zip lock bags.
- Horses may be entered in both Youth Department and Open Class by youth age 6 to 19 as of January 1st of the fair year.
- For classes under educational or demonstration project categories, participants are limited to youth who are 19 years of age or younger by January 1st of the fair year.
- Participants 26 years of age or under by January 1st of the fair year who has been determined to be eligible for special education services by the local school district may participate in classes under the educational and demonstration projects.
- Separate entry sheets to be used for Youth and Open class entries.
- The cover for the following fair year (Class No. 0174) must include the following:
- 1)The year of the fair (i.e. “119th”).
2)The words “Stalwart Agricultural Fair”.
3)The words “Michigan’s Biggest Little Fair”.
4)Date of the fair (The fair is always the Thursday, Friday, & Saturday after Labor Day).
- 1)The year of the fair (i.e. “119th”).
- The button design for the following fair year (Class No. 0175) must include the following:
- 1)The year (i.e. “2025”).
2)The words “Stalwart Fair”.
- 1)The year (i.e. “2025”).
